As I head out to California for a Geological Society of America Penrose conference in Mountain View, I caught up on yesterday's New York Times Magazine short piece on mapping: Global Entertainment, by Rob Walker. This is very appropriate for this week ahead of me. Here's Walker's quote: "As a Washington Monthly article argued recently, Google “may well be the world’s most important mapmaker.”"
No doubt. I hope to learn more about Google Earth in the coming days and share more on this blog and via Twitter. I think the hashtag is #GEPenrose.
